THE ENGINEER // SELF-TAUGHT, NO MANUAL
About
I’m Stefan — an independent infrastructure and automation specialist from Copenhagen, and entirely self-taught. No university degree; a career built out of systems I taught myself how to finish — and then ran in production.
Five-plus years at a Nordic MSP took me from the service desk to platform engineering: running an operations shift, leading the consolidation of three monitoring platforms across five countries, then designing the automation engine on an estate shared by banks, military and government. I know what it means to change systems that other people’s businesses depend on — carefully, reversibly, with an audit trail.
The docs end three layers before the real behaviour starts.
The problems I enjoy most are the ones without a clean manual: environments that grew organically, processes held together by the one person who remembers why. I take them apart at a whiteboard, down to pieces small enough to build well, then reassemble them into something your own team can operate. What I hand over is documented and maintainable — the goal is that you stop needing me.
